FINALS FOOTY

Senior Female vs St Joseph's Qualifying Final

FINAL SCORES Drysdale 1.4.10 were defeated by St Joseph's 10.11.71
Best on PlayHQ: Jessie Morrow, Kirah Atkinson, Tahli Benson, Emily Allan, Tara Smith, Josie Taylor.
Unfortunately our Senior Women couldn’t get the win today over a very strong St Joseph’s, they fought incredibly hard and we are so proud of them! As the team finished 2nd on the ladder they will get another chance next week against Torquay.
Today the team also celebrated Ray Roberts 50th game with the club which is an outstanding achievement.
Lastly a massive thank you to our volunteers for making this home final possible!
We will come back next week stronger then ever! Go Hawks 💛🤎

U15 Shawhurst (Div2) vs Geelong West Elimination Final

FINAL SCORES Drysdale 1.1.7 were defeated by Geelong West 2.0.12
Best on PlayHQ: Caitlin Bell, Bonnie Everett, Rani Shawcross, Ava Chapman, Lyza Eastoe, Hollie Glanvill.

It was a tough, contested game for the under 15 girls side in an elimination final. With the scores nil all at half time.

With scores nil all at half time, the Giants were the first to draw blood with a goal in the 3rd. Credit to our girls they hit back with a point then a goal to go into the last term a point in front.
Both sides kept persisting. We had the bulk of the play in the 4th but couldn't convert. In the dying minutes the Giants scored a goal. Our back line were tremendous under pressure and kept us in it to the end, many of them featuring in our best players today.
Disappointing finish to the season today. All our girls played well but just couldn’t get us over the line. There were many tears shed in the rooms after the game, tears of sadness and disappointment from many.
Girls leaving the under 15 fold I think probably shed the most tears. Hollie, Caitie, Isabella, Bonnie thank you for your time in Under 15’s you are a great group of girls and we look forward to watching you next season in the Under 18 Peninsula Sharks.
We are all so proud of you all as a team and look forward to next season.

U14 Drysdale Little (Div3) vs Bannockburn

FINAL SCORES Drysdale 10.10.70 defeated Bannockburn 5.11.41
Best on PlayHQ: Keegan Johnson, Will Fox Sutherland, Kade Little, Max Reid, Callan Atkinson, Guy Williams.

Coach Adam Little and his under 14's are coming home strong, finishing equal first they will head into a Qualifying Final against Anglesea next weekend.

Another cracking win by the boys this week. Well done to Keegan and Callan who finish the season as leading goal kickers in our division with 27 goals each.
Anglesea next weekend. We have traded blows with them twice this season, each taking one win. Should be a great contest.

U16 Carmichael (Div2) vs South Barwon Holz

FINAL SCORES Drysdale 2.2.14 were defeated by South Barwon 6.21.57
Best on PlayHQ: Jasper Clark, Koby Millar-Burton, Thomas Galan, Anthony Rizzo, Cody Williams, Stefan Jreige.

The team travelled to South Barwon, to play its final game of the season .

South Barwon were in strong finals contention with the boys hoping to dent those chances. The boys were coming off a great win last week against Bell Park. Our job was made harder by being only able to field 18 players with the opposition having 23 players.
Icy conditions greeted the team. The first quarter was a relatively tight affair with the margin being 10 points at the break . We were kept scoreless in the second term with South Barwon taking a 14 point lead into half time . Wayward kicking by our opponents kept us in the game.
A further scoreless quarter saw us go into the final quarter 43 points a drift .
We asked the boys for a big effort in what was their final quarter of the season and they answered that challenge kicking 2 goals to South Barwons 1 . The final margin was 43 points to the Swans .
Thanks to all the volunteers on the day. Best Players - Jasper, Koby, Thomas , Anthony, Cody ,Stef. Goal kickers Hayden 1, Thomas 1.

U16 Ruggles (Div6) vs Lara Cook

FINAL SCORES Drysdale 1.6.12 were defeated by 5.5.35
Best PlayHQ: Tyler Croxford, Cohen Hall, Noah Jones, Alexander Grace, Chris Hogen, Emilio Braun.

U18's Div3 vs Geelong West

FINAL SCORES Drysdale 18.9.117 defeated Geelong West 8.3.51
Best PlayHQ: Luke Chapman, Declan Foley, Jye Hawkins, Ricky Reid, Lincoln Everett, Seth Binion

For Coach Damo the last home game for the season saw the boys up against another finals contender. Besides the chill, weather was perfect for footy.

The first half was an even contest with us leading by 15 points at the main break. Lacking a little effort in the first half , we needed to raise the intensity around the contest, however the third quarter also proved to be tough increasing our lead to 23 points at 3/4 time. Going in to the last quarter, we asked the team to lift, and lift they did, kicking eight 4th quarter goals to one running out 66 point winners. This has now secured a top 2 Finish with 2 games remaining of regular season. Damo.

Reserves vs Newcomb

FINAL SCORES Drysdale 18.14.122 defeated Newcomb 4.2.26
Best on PlayHQ: Jake Hargreaves, Fletcher Sharrock, Quinn Taylor, Darcy Mullen, Nick Moriarty, Charlie Woodford.

From Coach Trevor Hume;

The Reserves had another good win, proving too strong for a determined Newcomb, and 11 goal to 2 2nd half put the result beyond doubt. Major contributors were Jake Hargreaves with a bag of 8 goals, and Darcy Mullen with 4. Fletcher Sharrock, Quinn Taylor, Nick Moriarty and Charlie Woodford were also among the best.

Senior Men vs Newcomb

FINAL SCORES Drysdale 18.18.126 defeated Newcomb 6.5.41
Best on PlayHQ: Billy Beardsell, Tevan Nofi, Tom Ruggles, James Breust, Ben Fennell, Adam Nolan.

The senior group came out hard early, kicking the first 3 goals of the game in quick succession, Garthy on the board after a few weeks off! The pressure from the Hawks continued all game, not letting Newcomb get their running game going, and we were able to score consistently across the 4 quarters, not letting Newcomb kick one in the last! Billy Beardsell's pressure and creativity was a highlight, finishing best on, with Tom Ruggles, Tevan Nofi & James Breust also in the best. Mat Hebbard continued his amazing year in front of goal, with 5 goals straight, taking him to 79 for the year, leading the league by plenty.

The boys had a strong win over Newcomb we controlled the footy really well and gave our forwards some good looks at goal. Our pressure was really impressive and our ability to lock the ball inside our forward line. We still have have plenty of improvement from the game against Newcomb but was a pleasing effort as we continue to build our form towards Moda next week and games beyond that. Binga (Ben Carmichael) Coach Seniors.

Both teams head out to Modewarre next week for the final home and away game, firmly entrenched in the top, and the seniors still a chance to claim top spot, only behind on percentage! There will be some keen eyes on the live scores for Queenscliff vs Torquay!
