The under 15’s started off the year fantastically with great numbers showing up to pre season training. The existing players were keen to start their season well and we had a number of new faces trying the sport for the first time. We also had Tess Craven join the coaching line up which was a huge boost to the team as her skill and knowledge of the game was invaluable.
The girls first 4 matches were grading games, winning one game. We were placed in div one where we were met with quite a few challenges!! After some rearranging from AFL Barwon, we were placed in div 2, where the girls competed well. Unfortunately we didn’t make finals, but some positives to come out of the year was beating the top 2 teams in the last 2 rounds of the season.
Our skipper, Hannah Brady was selected in the Geelong Cats Academy squad. This was a huge accomplishment for Han and we are so proud of her achievements. Go Han!!
The vote count was a really close one this year, coming down to the final round to determine the winner. After another fantastic season, our young gun Madi Foot took out the 1st place trophy, followed closely by the captain Hannah Brady who had such a wonderful season. 3rd place was won by Josie Taylor. She had such standout year and was ever more impressive considering it was her first ever season of football. Belle Fletcher won most courageous, Imogen Bassett won most improved and Tahli Benson won the coaches award.
This group of girls are so committed to their footy, they absolutely have the best time at training and on game day and it was a pleasure coaching them.
Bring on season 2020!
