It gives me great pleasure, in my first year as Junior Coordinator, to start providing regular updates on our talented junior Hawks Hero's. Squiz Taylor, a Drysdale junior and senior player, and I have been working hard on our Junior Program this year, laying the foundations to build on in 2023. We have introduced some great initiatives which has seen the juniors attending home games in good numbers. A huge thanks to our Senior Coaches, Binga, Ruggsy and Trev for allowing our juniors to be involved on game day. The kids have thoroughly enjoyed this experience and being amongst the players for the team song has been a huge highlight for them!
Auskick
We have had a massive year with 148 little Auskickers registered this season. The kids have enjoyed being part of the Hawk family and loved having a few of the senior players in attendance. We have also had older junior kids coming along on Friday nights to help with drills. A huge thanks to our coaches this year, you’ve been amazing!
U9, U10 and U12
Drysdale have fielded two teams in each age group this year and all six have performed well, with the skill level of all players improving each week. Our U12 Port Hawks girls’ team have also had a great season. Credit must go to all our coaches across the non-competitive section.
U14
Our U14s are currently sitting 1st on the ladder in Division 3. Coach, Adam Little has done a fantastic job with the boys, and they will be heading into the final’s beginning 7 August full of confidence.
U15 Girls
Co-coaches Glenn Smethurst and Adam Shawcross have the girls currently sitting 3rd on the ladder in Div 2. They have had some tight games this year and they are looking forward to a big finals campaign.
U16
Both our Div 2 and Div 6 sides have been competitive this year. Led by coaches Michael Deckker and Mark Wells, both teams remain in finals contention.
U18
Coach Damian Clark has our Div 3 boys sitting on top of the ladder, after some huge wins throughout the season. With some injuries to overcome, we should be close to full strength come finals time.
A massive thank you to all our amazing parents/volunteers who put their hand up, each and every week, to ensure our juniors get to take the ground.
