The Peninsula Sharks are set to become AFL Barwon’s newest team when they take to the field in the Under 18 female competition in season 2020. The combined side will field players from Drysdale, Ocean Grove, Queenscliff & Portarlington, andwill provide a much needed pathway for girls on the Bellarine to progress from U15s to Senior Football.

“It’s such an exciting & unique initiative” said Drysdale Female Football Coordinator Jennie Deckker. “We regularly see participation numbers in this age group drop off considerably & we believe this team is a way of addressing that & keeping girls involved in the game they love”.

The team will train at Memorial Oval in Ocean Grove with home games being shared by all four clubs. “The way the clubs have worked together has been fantastic” said Deckker, “there are so many benefits to players & clubs, it really is a win/win situation”.

If you are interested in getting involved with the Sharks as a player, coach, administrator or volunteer, please contact Jennie on 0425 718 838.
