2019 – A New Begining

Welcome to 2019!  We believe that this is going to be a great year for our club, one in which we see the resurgence of our senior men’s team to its rightful position as a feared and respected opponent, once again featuring in finals football.

There have been many changes since last season, with a new President and a number of new committee members, as well as the appointment of new joint coaches.

Dr David Walder takes the mantle of President.  As well as being a local MD for over 20 years, David is also an astute businessman and passionate sports lover.  He is a past player at our club, and coached a reserves Premiership team, and an Under 18 side. We believe that Doc will be a real ‘players President’ as he has a passion for playing the game and will continue the relationships he has built as club doctor, coach  and life member.

Peter Preece will be Doc’s right hand man in the role of Senior Vice President. As well as being a club legend of over 300 games Peter is also a proven business owner and manager, and the combination of football nous and business acumen will greatly benefit the club.

We also welcome another past champion Chris Taylor on to committee, along with long time club stalwarts Cathy Davis and Karen Craven.  They join returning members Erika Gee-Kot, Nicki Dunne, Daniel Hopgood, Jennie Deckker, Bret Lacey and Ben Reyment.

As previously announced our senior co-coaches are past Premiership team mates Danial Jull and Luke Matthews. Daniel will be a playing coach and Luke non playing, a perfect combination.  These guys played together in the 2009 and 2010 Premiership sides, and have a great understanding of what is required for success in our ever improving competition.

The playing group have also been bolstered due to a busy off season put in by our recruiting team, with around 8 new and returning players having been added.  Headlining this group is Lachlan Dalgeish, a former Essendon AFL listed player and Footscray VFL Premiership player.

We will see further growth in our female football participation with the addition of an U18 team, to be coached by proven female player and coach Lauren
Bazeley.  Lauren played in the VWFL and is a 5 time Victorian representative and 2 time All Australian.

Our junior division is expected to grow yet again this year as we provide the opportunity for young boys and girls from across our ever expanding townships to enjoy a game of football in a safe and caring environment.

We will shortly be releasing our 2019 Sponsor packages prepared by our new sponsorship subcommittee, as well as our membership offering which this year includes an exciting new coterie group option.  We hope that members and sponsors get on board for what is going to be an exciting year.
